“Tu parles francais comme une vache espagnole” is a saying used by the French to refer to foreigners – Spaniards in particular - who don’t speak their language well. In English it means, “you speak French like a Spanish cow”. Maria is originally from Houston, Texas, but her Spanish roots and a life spent bouncing around the globe encountering one new language to learn after another have kept her all too aware of that “Spanish Cow” feeling.
