street food
My year of teaching in China is coming to an end and I will be back in the States on July 15th.
What will I miss? Well, many th
ings - my friends, my students, my school. But today I'm going to talk about a subject very close to my heart: food. I will miss street food. Very much.
All over China there are wonderful restaurants. But there is a wonderful tradition of cheap eats that one can inevitably find on various street corners throughout a city.
A vendor sets up "shop" by wheeling his cart, bike or wagon to a vacant sidewalk and thus begins the process of whipping up some of the most delectable goodies one can imagine.
What do you have a hankering for? Veggies? Soup? Noodles? Meat on a stick? Tofu? Fish? Oysters? The options are limitless, you just need to know which street to walk down.
I will miss this.
