buffalo bayou post-ike

Now that the craziness that Hurricane Ike brought to our fair city of Houston has, for the most part, died down, perhaps it is a good time to show my pictures from a couple of days after the storm.

My parents and I took the dogs on a walk along our favorite bayou path. I brought my camera along to document.

At the beginning of the walk the dogs knew something was different. Branches that hadn't been there before were blocking the path.

The water level was much higher.

And once shady areas were washed with sunlight.

At times the usually clear path seemed truly unpassable, but the Vache Espagnoles were not deterred, oh no. It was up and around we went.

But then again, the Vache Espagnoles were not the only valiant ones to brave the rugged post-Ike bayou path.

Once off the path the walk home through the neighborhood offered some interesting changes as well.

The dogs caught glimpses of yards they'd never seen before.

And discovered wonderously new enormous puddles.

Only a labrador can truly appreciate the likes of a superior puddle such as this.
